Researching weight loss camps or fat farms for seniors isn't easy, but if you're over 50 and wondering how to lose weight and get fit again, then you're not alone! In the video below, we chat with a senior couple, Richard and Cheryl, after completing their first stay at Fit Farm. Both were fit in their younger years and wanted to reclaim their health through a boot camp for seniors. Cheryl had had knee surgery and wasn't sure if she would be able to participate, but both she and her husband were pleasantly surprised to see she was capable of more than they thought!

We like to refer to our weight loss program as an all-inclusive retreat not only because our pricing includes everything from your fitness program, all snacks and meals, room accommodations, and activities; but also because the program is ideal for all fitness levels, all ages, all genders, and all starting points. Guests from all over the world and from different walks of life participate in our Fit Farm program. Some guests arrive with a goal to be able to walk a mile before they leave, while other seniors may be training for a marathon! The program at Fit Farm Our program isn't 100% high-intensity workouts. Instead, we provide a progressive daily program that takes you through the peaks and valleys of physical exertion and elevated heart rate to help you build the endurance and strength you are looking for. Our structured fitness and weight loss program provides up to 7 hours daily of various classes. You're probably thinking that it's impossible for anyone that’s a senior to work out for 7 hours a day, and you're right. Safely engaging in 7 hours of high-intensity exercises every day is impossible, no matter whether young or old, and that's not what we do here at Fit Farm. These 7 hours are a combination of fitness and wellness education classes that involve various body movements. Classes range from water aerobics, restorative yoga, hiking, biking, pickleball, HIIT (high-intensity interval training), boxing, and fun games that keep you engaged and moving. Many guests often find themselves enjoying these activities so much that they don’t realize how many calories they burned having a great time. Our one-of-a-kind training team at Fit Farm is with you for your entire journey. We’re dedicated to helping you and all seniors reach a healthier, happier you. Before you even begin your first exercise class, our team of professional trainers will meet one-on-one with you to discuss your personal goals, physical limitations, previous injuries, and any health concerns you may have. Our trainers work together to build exercise modifications that allow you to build strength and coordination to get to the next level of your fitness journey safely.

Every day you will work with the Fit Farm trainers for up to 7 hours. This ensures that you are on track with your progress and allows for a safe environment that promotes injury prevention, which we take very seriously here on the farm.   1. Hi-I am 58 and looking to ultimately lose 10 pounds, hopefully getting off some of that during a 4-week stary with you.My husband, 74, needs to lose at 20 -ultimately. we want you to jumpstart our effort.

    If we stayed about a month, what is the approximate rate for double occupancy?
    My husband doesn’t evercise at all now-will it be too much of a shock to his system?

      These are great questions! Below are some answers. We’d also love to chat with you on the phone to discuss how our program can help both you and your husband.

      You can find our rates here. Room rates are listed per person. You and your husband can either share a Double Room or a Suite.

      Regarding transitioning from no exercise to attending a Fit Farm retreat, our program is custom-tailored to meet you where you are when you arrive. Our trainers meet with you one-on-one before you set foot in a gym to understand your background and ensure your safety. If you have availability, I would highly recommend giving our team a call to discuss the program in more detail.

      We have 24 rooms on site, however, occupancy varies throughout the year. Each Sunday we have new guests arrive, leave, and stay through. We are open all year long except for the last 2 weeks in December to give our team time off to be with their families for the holidays.

      Wi-Fi is available in the cabins and main lodge. There’s also a business center in the lodge if you need access to a computer.

  2. I am 75 yr old trying to be a young female senior. I have 2 knee replacements, back surgery and now need a tentative hip replacement. I am 5′ 9″ tall weighing in at 252 lbs. I have tried to loose weight but not successfully. My son sent me this site and I am interested in doing this after my hip replacement. Would you consider taking someone like me into your program?.

  3. I have a dog can she go with me I’m a widow and 70 and need to lose about 50lbs. I had weight loss surgery back in 2018. And how much does it cost I don’t have much money . What do you do with people that have disabilities?

    I am researching programs like this for my husband (65 yrs old) who is 100+ lbs overweight. He has high BP and had a heart attack last year.
    Trying to succeed with a weight loss program at home has not worked for him.

  5. I would love to find out more about this camp! I am around 500lb is that to much? I know I am obese and I just need some help

      1. Hi Sue, that’s a great question!

        The weekend retreat includes all group classes and education. It also includes testing on arrival, dinner the first night; day 2 & 3 includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks; day 4 includes breakfast, and you may purchase lunch after checkout if you are staying for classes.

        Check-in is at 3pm on the first day with check-out at 10am on the final day. After checkout, you may stay and enjoy the classes for the day if you would like.

    1. Hi Norma, that’s a great question! We have guests stay anywhere from one week up to a couple of months! It all depends on your preference. Regarding the cost, it depends on a couple of factors including, which program you’re interested in (Fitness or Weight Loss), length of stay, and which room type you would like.   6. My husband needs to lose 100 lbs to get knee surgery. Mobility is a real issue. Also is anything covered by insurance?

    1. Hi Kari, thank you for your inquiry. Your best bet would be to give our team a call (615-667-8055) to discuss if the program would be a good fit for your husband. Regarding insurance, you will need to work with your doctor and your insurance company to determine your available coverage. To start the process, work with your doctor to declare a medical necessity and submit for reimbursement through your insurance medical savings account. We’ve provided a form to help with this process which can be downloaded here.

  7. Do you have meal plans for people with food allergy’s? Are individuals able to sign up for classes or is there a class regime.

    1. Hi Shannon, thanks for reaching out! Before you attend any of our retreats you will fill out a form to include all of your food allergies so we can inform our kitchen team. We have alternative meal options available.

      Regarding classes, there is a schedule available in our main lodge that has all of the classes and activities for each day. No need to sign up, just attend the ones that you want to.

  8. What is your protocol for switching from getting energy from carbs to getting energy from stored fat? Do you have a price for 4-weeks? 8-weeks? Thank you.

    1. Hi Sharleen! Thank you for your question. Our program is based on a macro balanced meal plan of carbs, protein, and healthy fats which is designed to sustain your energy longer between meals. As for rates, the rates vary depending on your preferred room type and the program that best fits your goals. Our fitness program rates range from $2569 – $3535 plus taxes per week and our weight loss program can be added for an additional $245.00 per week. Good news – we offer a discount of 10-15% for extended stays. We’d love an opportunity to chat about our approach and the program that would be best for your goals.

      – Our all-inclusive pricing includes the fitness program, education, testing, personalized meals and snacks, accommodations, outings, facility amenities, complimentary airport shuttle, and a plan for continuing your journey at home. If you attend our weight loss retreat, you get all of the above plus a blood panel evaluation, 1-hour weight loss education class, and weekly one-on-one sessions covering fitness, nutrition, and accountability.       – How to get from the farm from Amtrak: We offer shuttle service from Nashville Airport on Sundays at either 11:30 am or 3 pm. You could take a taxi to the airport and catch the shuttle or you can hire a taxi/Uber and come directly to the farm.

      – We are located in Castalian Springs, TN, just 40 miles outside of Nashville.

      – Because we are a fitness facility, not a medical facility, we do not test for hormones. However, if you attend the weight loss program, you can have blood work done prior to your stay and bring that with you for evaluation with our team.   12. What programs do you have for seniors who need to lose at least 80 pounds or more. Unfortunately, I can’t run do to a back back I’m 68 but consider myself very active in a variety of projects but lack in a good exercise routine and a good nutrition program
